public-call:

Can we please talk about how delighted The First Doctor is by everything?

No idea why he gets called grumpy. Your boy is pumped.

Shit that One Fucks with Heavy:
The Keys of Marinus

1-2

1. Glass. Just glass. “Glass instead of sand, intriguing, intriguing my boy!”

2. Acid that about melted his grandkid’s feet. “A sea of acid, astonishing!”

3. Teleporters. Obviously. “Very compact and very neat sir, if I might say!”

4. Teleportation itself. On account of the teleporters. “How exhilarating!”

5. A pomegranate. He about loses his shit. “I say, is that a pomegranate!??”

6. Truffles. He is so pure. "Truffles?? I do believe they’re truffles! WELL WELL!“

7. Charming Young Men. ME TOO, PAL.“Charming young man, yes, charming!”

8. More with the glass. “Look at these exquisite glasses, Chesterton!”

9. A rusty mug. It’s literally a rusty mug that he picks up and acts like it’s a tool. IDK maybe he’s drunk. “If I can have instruments like these, I might be able to overcome the fault in the time mechanism on the ship!” JK he’s under hypnosis.

rrrawrf-writes:

“I’m a coward.”

“How can you say that? You’ve saved thousands of lives. You’ve fought battles no one else can even dream of. You’ve never backed down from a fight!”

I found this amazing prompt and I just couldn’t help but write a little fanfic about it!

Fandom: Doctor Who (Classic/Modern crossover, more or less)

Characters: Barbara Wright and Doctor of your choice, but I imagained 9 or 12.

Owner of the prompt: @rrrawrf-writes

The fanfic itself:

“I’m a coward.” The Doctor said it, his fave emotionless as he delivered the cold, hard truth. Why he was there, or why he was telling her about it, were details he could no longer recall. It had been too long and too many things had happened for it to seem as though it mattered at all.

And as she hears his words, Barbara’s dark eyes stare back at him, and he waits. He waits for her hatred and her disgust, all those feelings he knew pthers felt for him and he knew that he deserved.

“How can you say that? You’ve saved thousands of lives. You’ve fought battles no one else can even dream of. You’ve never backed down from a fight!” Staring into his eyes, Barbara replies. She replies with all the love and conviction that she holds in her heart, fearing for how long ago it has been since The Doctor heard such words.

Fear makes companions of us all, he’d once told her. And as he stood upon her doorstep, holding her by the arms and starring into her eyes, she feel as though it is true once more.

The fear, that The Doctor would never see the good in himself again.

The fear, that there may not be any good left inside him.

“I save lives, but I take them too. I turn away and look away and let lives be taken because I do not dare to save them. Because it is not right to save them.” The Doctor sigh, deep and weary, and he wish that he could see what Barbara saw. How she could still keep her faith in him, after all that he had out her through.

“Once, you treated everything and everyone as though it was lesser than you. But now, you try.   You do all you can and somtimes, when you’re lucky, it is enough.” Freeing her arms from his grip, she wraps them around his waist instead, pulling him in to a hug. “It does not make you a coward, but a human.” Barbara close her eyes, squeezing The Doctor’s waist and prays that he will understand. That he will not give up.

Feeling Barbara’s body pressing against his, The Doctor sigh once more. He feels her arms, squeezing his waist, and he smiles. Of all the people he had traveled without, out of all the people in the Universe, he had found the one person who would never give up on him.

The woman, who had shared her humanity with him and made him something more than he had ever been before.

With her, he was and would always be the grumpy but loving man in the junkyard, protecting the universe from everything and everyone who wished to harm it.

“Thank you” He whispered, and he could feel Barbara smiling against his chest.

“You’re welcome, Doctor.” She whispered back, smiling as she knew that she had succeeded. She comforted him and helped him to remember who he was.

Who The Doctor was.

LOVE this.
